[Phoenix] – January 3, 2018 – Today, Western Window Systems, part of the PGT Innovations (NYSE: PGTI) family of brands, announced several new indoor-outdoor solutions at six show homes located in and around the NAHB International Builders Show (IBS) in Las Vegas, February 19-21. Show attendees are encouraged to visit IBS’ Show Village, as well as three show homes outside the event, to see how the company’s massive moving glass walls and windows are being utilized to differentiate homes in a wide variety of architectural styles and building types.

“Western Window Systems is proud to help bring new ideas for indoor-outdoor living to builders, remodelers, developers and designers attending the 2019 IBS event,” says Scott Gates, president of Western Window Systems. “Big views, expanded living areas, and blended indoor-outdoor spaces shouldn’t be limited by a home’s region or ZIP code. With these innovative solutions on display during IBS, we’re more committed than ever to cultivating indoor-outdoor living across North America.”

In addition to three homes in IBS’ Show Village, Western Window Systems’ products will be featured in the KB Home Projekt, the New American Home, and the New American Remodel. Details on all of the show homes are below.

Show Homes at the International Builders’ Show (in Show Village):

  • Boxabl
Las Vegas-based Boxabl is among a growing list of companies looking to change the world of housing production in the U.S. The 1,600-square-foot prototype, featuring an aluminum multi-slide door and windows from Western Window Systems, is likely something you’ve never seen before: a completely finished and dried-in shell, including exterior cladding, that unfolds from a tight 8½-foot-wide by 12½-foot-tall by 40-foot-long package delivered on a flatbed trailer pulled by a pickup truck.
  • Mid-Century Modular
Las Vegas general contractor-turned-developer Joe Crosland utilized Western Window Systems’ moving glass walls and windows for his L-shaped mid-century modern home, featuring a sloped single-form shed roof and a well-disguised core of six factory-built modules.
  • Tiny House 2.0
A next-generation take on the concept of the tiny house, or “accessory dwelling unit” (ADU), called the Stuga (Swedish for small house or cottage), is on display from Mods PDX, in Portland, Oregon. Setting a new bar for flexibility and affordability, the home features a Series 600 Multi-Slide Door from Western Window Systems.

Show Village 2019 is open for free, self-guided tours during the International Builders’ Show. No tickets are required, but you must be registered for IBS.

Show Homes Outside the International Builders’ Show:

  • New American Home
This 8,000-square-foot home with an unparalleled view of the Las Vegas skyline is designed by architect Dan Coletti, president of Sun West, and sponsored by Professional Builder magazine, and it features Western Window Systems’ Series 7000 performance line of aluminum glass walls and windows throughout. “With the mixture of this home’s design, the products, the lot, and its overall aura, I’m hoping that when people see the finished product, they truly enjoy it and say, ‘Wow, I can’t believe they could do that,’” Coletti told the National Association of Home Builders for a story on its website.
  • New American Remodel
Expected to be 42 percent more efficient than the average new home, saving the homeowner over $1,600 a year, the New American Remodel, engineered and designed by Luxus Design Build, is considered a showcase of innovation. Beyond Western Window Systems’ energy-efficient doors and windows, the home will feature numerous products and systems dedicated to maximum energy performance, including Energy Star-rated tankless water heaters, insulated pipes, LED lighting, solar panels, onsite well water for irrigation, indigenous landscaping with a minimum amount of grass, and low-flow toilets. It all adds up to a preliminary HERS index of 58.

The New American Home 2019 is open for free, guided tours during the exhibit hours of the International Builders’ Show. Tickets are required and can be obtained at no cost at The New American Home/Remodeled American Home booth near IBS registration at the Las Vegas Convention Center. • KB Home ProjeKt: Where Tomorrow Lives
Looking to the future of home life in 2020 and 2050, the KB ProjeKt, from Florida-based KB Home and Builder magazine, explores themes of sustainability, smart-home technology, flexible living space, wellness, and security. It features a mix of both imaginative advancements and today’s cutting-edge technology, such as a drone landing pad for package delivery, multi-slide and bi-fold energy-smart door systems from Western Window Systems, a water-recycling dishwasher, and a Tesla Powerwall battery. Approximately 1,000 people toured the KB ProjeKt home at the Greenbuild Conference, and it was awarded Top Project of the Year honors by Environmental Leader.

The KB Home ProjeKt: Where Tomorrow Lives is located in the Inspirada master-planned community in Henderson, Nevada (about 30 minutes from IBS). Tickets are not required. Guided tours are available. For more information visit www.builderonline.com/kbhomeprojekt.
