On October 13, Western Window Systems employees Richard Mazur, Antwuon Sanders, and Andrew Poet were part of a field of 2,000 cyclists who rode in the 15th Annual Tour de Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona. The 70-mile ride benefited the McDowell Sonoran Conservancy, a nonprofit conservation organization that protects and promotes the McDowell Sonoran Preserve, which comprises 30,500 acres of Arizona desert.

“I thought it would be a cool way to represent Western for a good cause,” says Mazur, a design engineering manager. (Mazur’s wife, Kasia Mazur, also participated in the event.)

The three cyclists are no strangers to the road. What began as part of Maricopa County’s Annual Bike to Work challenge between Mazur and Sanders has grown into a serious hobby that Poet, a senior programmer analyst, has joined them in. The chance to combine their passion for biking with a worthy cause was a great incentive.

“I do love the outdoors, so being able to contribute to helping it out is a plus,” says Sanders, a purchasing agent.

Western Window Systems provided custom jerseys for the riders and sponsored the team by covering participants’ entry fees.
